India Publishes 2025 Amendments to the Cosmetics Rules 2020

On July 31, 2025, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India officially issued the Cosmetics (Amendment) Rules, 2025 in the Gazette of India, following a public consultation process initiated in May 2023. These amendments revise multiple provisions of the Cosmetics Rules, 2020 with the goal of strengthening oversight and offering greater clarity for stakeholders across the cosmetic supply chain. The amendments came into effect immediately upon publication.
