According to import and export trade data released by the Korean Tariff Administration, Korea’s cosmetics exports in March reached over 0.27 billion dollars, the biggest increase since January 2000. Cosmetic imports totaled 0.15 billion dollars, representing a 0.12 billion dollar trade surplus, continuing the remarkable success of Korea’s market which have exhibited a trade surplus since last May.
The data shows that the majority of Korea's exports went to the Chinese mainland representing 0.12 billion dollars, followed by Hong Kong ($ 61.16 million), United States ($ 20.04 million), Chinese Taipei ($12.15 million) and Japan ($11.59 million). From an Import perspective America was the Korean cosmetics markets greatest supplier with imports valued at $42.90 million, followed by France ($ 32.27 million) and Japan ($20.32 million) in second and third places respectively.
