The Recall Result of Kanebo Cosmetics Containing Rhododenol in Philippines

After discovering that skin whitening products with the ingredient “4HPB [4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanol]” or “Rhododenol” may cause uneven coloring, Kanebo announced on 4 July 2013 to voluntarily recall those products across Asia (see Chemlinked news on 5 Jul).

Philippines is one of the affected countries. In response to the recall, the FDA has made public the result that all those unsafe products have been withdrawn from the market and the FDA will prohibit the products manufactured by Kanebo that contain “Rhododenol”.
