China SFDA consults on the limit value of dioxane residues in cosmetics.

According to Hygienic Standard for Cosmetics (2007), dioxane is a banned substance and must not form any part of the composition of cosmetic products. However, during production process, it is technically unavoidable that dioxane will be introduced into cosmetics by raw materials.

In such a case, SFDA releases a notice today that it’s going to set the limit value of dioxane residues in cosmetics to 30 mg/kg based on the results of safety and risk assessment conducted on this substance. Public opinions are welcome to be submitted to the agency before 10 January 2012.
