South Korea has accredited thirty-four natural and organic cosmetic products since MFDS established the Natural and Organic Cosmetic Certification System in 2019. To simplify the application procedure, the competent authority introduced the raw material certification mechanism of the natural and organic cosmetics 1 on January 29, 2021. This new certification mechanism realized the natural and organic cosmetic accreditation by inspecting the raw materials instead of the final products. It reduces the preparation of the documents, which eases the industry's burden.
According to the new certification mechanism, the enterprises that manufacture, process, or handle the natural or organic materials, can apply for the certificates to the designated institutions.

The institutions will review the contents of the materials in the product and issue a certificate to the applicant when the products comply with the content standard.
Content Standards: Natural Cosmetic: The content of natural materials shall be over 95%; Organic Cosmetic: The content of natural materials shall be over 95%, and the content of organic materials shall be over 10%. |
