South Korea Launches Consulting Program for New Cosmetic Safety Assessment System

On April 1, 2026, South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced the launch of the “Cosmetic Safety Assessment Introduction Support Program” to provide one-on-one consulting for 1,500 SME cosmetic companies in preparation for a new mandatory cosmetic safety assessment system that will be phased in from 2028.
On April 1, 2026, South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) launched the "Cosmetic Safety Assessment Introduction Support Program" to help the cosmetics industry prepare for a new mandatory safety assessment system. The initiative will provide one-on-one consulting to 1,500 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to ensure a smooth transition to the new regulations, which will be phased in starting in 2028. The MFDS is now recruiting interested companies to participate, with the application period open until April 30, 2026.
