Thailand Revises Cosmetic Ingredient Use Requirements: Two Ingredients Added and One Revised

Thailand introduced amendments to its cosmetic ingredient lists, including additions of a prohibited ingredient and a permitted sunscreen, and the revision of a permitted colorant in cosmetics.

On July 3, 2024, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) officially approved the amendments to the country's cosmetic ingredient lists, following a period of public consultation that lasted from February 22, 2024 to March 7, 2024. Effective on July 4, 2024, these amendments align Thailand's cosmetic regulations with updates to the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive adopted during the 38th ASEAN Cosmetic Scientific Body (ACSB) Meeting.

Details of the amendments are as follows (changes to the previous lists are indicated in red):

1. Adding a new entry of Diethyltoluamide (DEET) in the List of Prohibited Ingredients. 1
