Zhejiang Health Products Cosmetics Industry Association announced the establishment of a cosmetics branch on January 19th 2016. Officers from CFDA, Zhejiang FDA, and Jiangsu FDA as well as well-known entrepreneurs in Zhejiang province attended the opening ceremony.
The new cosmetic branch will serve the government, industry and enterprise. The Cosmetics Branch has also built an expert team to offer advice and consultation to the cosmetics industry. The first Expert Commission consists of 18 experts in cosmetics regulation, supervision, inspection, toxicology, sanitary chemistry, record filing/licensing and microbe etc. These experts are from Zhejiang provincial FDA, Zhejiang Institute for Food and Drug Control, Zhejiang Drug and Cosmetic Review Center, and Zhejiang Center for Disease Control and Prevention etc.
According to Zhejiang Health Products Cosmetics Industry Association, the establishment of the cosmetic branch will help to make the cosmetics industry much more specialized and scientific. The branch will conduct research, provide advice, suggestion and evidence to policymakers in government, and offer companies suggestion and solution.
At present, Zhejiang province is one of the three largest cosmetic industry bases in China, along with Guangdong and Shanghai. At the end of September 2015, there were already 490 cosmetics manufacturers in Zhejiang.
The cosmetics branch is expected to effectively promote honesty and self-discipline of cosmetics companies in Zhejiang, and help to create a fair competition environment by guiding, supervising, and setting industrial convention.
