Children's Cosmetics Need Stricter Administration in China

As New Year approaches, many Chinese children are preparing performances. Allergic reactions to cosmetics are common even among children using “cosmetics for children”. Gu Lihong, a reporter from Shenyang Evening News discovered that these so-called “cosmetics for children” were just gimmicks, because there are not enough mandatory standards especially for children’s cosmetics in China. Cosmetics for children show little differences between standard cosmetics.

Korea Revises Imported Cosmetics Quality Inspection Exemption Rules

From November 19th to 20th 2015, the First Cosmetic Engineer Summit of Asia Pacific was held at Zhujiang Hotel, Guangzhou City. The theme of this summit was “Safety, Fusion, Innovation, and Cooperation”. During this summit, Liu Baojun, the director of cosmetic division in CFDA was invited to give a speech.

Taiwan FDA Issues Fines for Trade of Facial Masks Bearing Inappropriate Claims

The Consumer Protection Committee in Taiwan purchased 25 facial masks for examination in the greater Taipei area in August this year, and subjected them to testing and analysis. Final results were released yesterday revealing that all products passed inspections for fluorescent agents, microorganisms and preservatives however 14 were mislabeled or exaggerated their effect.

Taiwan FDA to Ban Estrogens in Cosmetics

Last week, "Taiwan Food and Drug Administration" announced a draft amendment to ban the use of 3 types of estrogen (estradiol, estrone and ethinyl estradiol) in cosmetics from next July. These three types of estrogens can be found in shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers and astringents, body and skin creams and also in UV sun screens.

China Needs to Improve Imported Cosmetics Regulations and Standards

From January to July, China imported 41 thousand tons of cosmetic products worth 1 billion 674 million US dollars. The increased influx of imported cosmetics is stretching the supervisory and enforcement capacities of both AQSIQ and CFDA to effectively police China’s cosmetic markets.

Thailand FDA to Reinforce Cosmetic Advertisement Regulation

Thailand FDA is currently drafting a regulation to identify prohibited messages in cosmetic advertisements and is going to give harsher punishment to violators. The finer points of the regulation are currently being considered by the FDA cosmetics committee and new guidelines are expected to be completed this year.
