Taiwan FDA to Ban Specific Estrogens in Cosmetics

Two months ago, "Taiwan Food and Drug Administration" announced a draft amendment to ban the use of estradiol, estrone and ethinyl estradiol in cosmetics from July 2016. Minister of Health and Welfare Chiang Been-huang said the FDA would evaluate the possibility of moving up the commencement date to March when he was questioned about the schedule for enforcement of that policy.

China’s Provincial Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau Blueprint Their Future Administrative Protocols

According to Regulations concerning the Supervision and Administration over Cosmetics, the officials in charge of imported cosmetics administration in China are CFDA and AQSIQ. CFDA is responsible for hygienic review of imported cosmetics and AQSIQ is responsible for inspection of approved imported cosmetics. In the following paragraphs Xiong Yan, an official from Shandong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (Shandong CIQ), gives practical advice on meeting the administration requirements for imported cosmetics.

Stay Current: China’s Cosmetic Safety Assessment Regulatory Landscape
Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025. Following this deadline, a full version of the safety assessment will be mandated. To facilitate a smooth transition, China is planning to release a set of technical guidelines.
