Indonesia Implements New Cosmetic Labeling Regulation
Feb 01, 2021
Detailed instructions and examples are given on how to label the required information. Disease prevention claims are prohibited. Labeling guidelines for sunscreens, skincare products containing Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), and teeth whitening products containing or releasing Hydrogen Peroxide are newly added. Administrative sanctions imposed on enterprises using illegal labeling are adjusted.

Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025. Following this deadline, a full version of the safety assessment will be mandated. To facilitate a smooth transition, China is planning to release a set of technical guidelines.
