Taiwan to Update the Applicable Products for GMP Requirements
May 13, 2024
On May 10, 2024, TFDA released the draft of Cosmetic Categories for Which Manufacturing Premises Shall Comply with Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practice Regulations, aiming to replace the existing regulation titled Cosmetic Categories That Shall Comply with Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practice Regulations. In line with the discontinuation of the specific purpose cosmetics category from July 1, 2024, the draft revises the expressions used in the regulation, and clarifies its applicable scope.

Japan Updates the GMP Compliance Inspection FAQs

On August 18, 2023, Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) updated the frequently asked questions (FAQs) for compliance inspection of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). As revealed by the GMP Ministerial Ordinance, wWhen manufacturing quasi-drugs designated by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the product shall comply with GMP through manufacturing control and quality management. Besides, an application for GMP compliance inspection is necessary.

[Updated] Canada Introduces Legislation to Ban Cosmetic Animal Testing and Trade

In the Budget, the government proposes to amend the Food and Drugs Act to ban cosmetic testing on animals. The proposed amendments would prohibit testing cosmetics on animals in Canada, selling cosmetics that rely on animal testing data to prove the product’s safety, with some exceptions and false or misleading labelling related to the testing of cosmetics on animals.

Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025.
