On May 8, 2025, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) announced the implementation of the Malaysian Halal Certification Certificate (SPHM) electronically (e-Cert), effective from May 5, 2025. ¹ This move aligns with the national Public Service Digitalization agenda, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of government service delivery.

All SPHM applications approved by the Halal Certification Panel at the JAKIM, State Islamic Religious Council (MAIN), or State Department of Islamic Religion Council (JAIN) level on or after May 5, 2025, will now be issued electronically via the MYeHALAL system. Approved applicants can independently print their SPHM certificates online.

For companies that still require a physical SPHM certificate printed and certified by JAKIM/MAIN/JAIN, a formal request must be submitted via an official letter. Such requests will be treated as SPHM Reprints and will incur charges in accordance with Clause 13 of the Malaysia Halal Certification Procedure Manual (Domestic) 2020.

This digital transition reflects JAKIM’s commitment to embracing modern information technology, reducing bureaucratic procedures, and improving the overall efficiency of services provided to the public.
