South Korea Amends Cosmetic Safety Standards, Including New UV Filter

According to the notice released by the Korean Cosmetics Association (KCA) on March 25, South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) released Notification No. 2026-16 to amend the Regulations on Cosmetic Safety Standards, adding a new UV filter, reorganizing hair dye ingredient lists, and updating test methods for key cosmetic substances.

According to the notice released by the Korean Cosmetics Association (KCA) on March 25, South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) released Notification No. 2026-16, an amendment to the "Regulation on Safety Standards, etc. for Cosmetics". The update introduces a new UV filter, reorganizes the lists of prohibited and restricted ingredients to clarify the use of hair dyes, and revises official test methods for several substances. The amendment came into effect on March 18, 2026.
