On July 11, 2024, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) launched a public consultation on the newly proposed amendments to the country's cosmetic ingredient lists, which involves the addition of 56 prohibited ingredient and one restricted ingredient, along with revision to another restricted ingredient. These changes aim to be in line with the updates to the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive adopted at the 36th, 37th, and 38th ASEAN Cosmetic Scientific Body (ACSB) meeting.
The consultation period will end on July 25, 2024. Stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback before that. Once adopted, the changes will take effect upon publication in the Government Gazette. A grace period of 180 days will be granted to cosmetic stakeholders who have already manufactured, imported, or sold products containing the 56 prohibited ingredients and the revised restricted ingredient prior to the official announcement.

In accordance with the updated restricted ingredient list, revisions will also be made to the List of Warnings on Labels for Cosmetics Containing Restricted Ingredients to include an entry for the newly added silver zinc zeolite. However, no specific labeling requirements will be mandated for it.
