UK Introduces Recycling Labelling Requirements for Packaging Producers
May 22, 2024
On May 1, 2024, UK notified WTO of a draft regulation titled The Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging and Packaging Waste) Regulations 2024, introducing recycling labelling requirements on packaging producers established in the UK. The draft is now open for comments until June 30, 2024, and scheduled to come into force on January 1, 2025.

UK Proposes to Ban the Supply and Sale of Plastic-contained Wet Wipes

On April 24, 2024, UK notified WTO of a draft regulation titled The Environmental Protection (Wet Wipes Containing Plastic) (England) Regulations 2024, aiming at prohibiting the supply and sale of wet wipes containing plastic, including cosmetic wipes. Once the draft is approved, the supply and sale of wet wipes containing plastic in England will face strict prohibition, with only three specified exemptions.
