Consumers Alerted to Avoid Cosmetic without Chinese Label

Regulatory experts had warned that lack of Chinese label for imported cosmetics should be avoided after a local FDA launched investigation into a suspected counterfeit case that allegedly involved hundred batches of Korean cosmetics, following a recent customer complaint where the user suffered from skin rash.

AQSIQ recently issued Detailed Rules for Supervision and Administration on Food Imported through Bonded Online Shopping Mode of Cross-Border E-commerce (draft). At the end of this document it mentioned that the supervision of cosmetics will also generally refer to these rules.

During the seminar officials from local and national FDA’s provided progress updates and data related to implementation of cosmetic regulations, supervision and enforcement work in Guangdong from January to July. Stay Current: China’s Cosmetic Safety Assessment Regulatory Landscape
Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025. Following this deadline, a full version of the safety assessment will be mandated. To facilitate a smooth transition, China is planning to release a set of technical guidelines.
China’s Safety and Technical Standards for Cosmetics (STSC) and Its Updates
The current cosmetic technical standard STSC 2015 specifies the cosmetics' general safety standards, prohibited/restricted/permitted ingredients and testing methods.
