Korea to Amend Usage Limit of Two Cosmetic Ingredients

On March 24 2015 Korea MFDS announced it will amend the usage limit of the compounds of Methylchloroisothiazol inone and Methylisothiazolinone and Triclosan prescribed in the Korea Cosmetic Safety Standard based on the results of hazard assessment. Korea to Amend Functional Cosmetics Testing Regulation

South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has announced that it is to amend the “Standards and Testing Methods of Functional Cosmetics”. The regulation will include 8 new kinds of functional cosmetic preparations containing whitening ingredients and whitening/wrinkle-relieving compounds with validated safety and efficacy. Under the new system the review process will be replaced with a mandatory requirement to submit supporting reports.

Stay Current: China’s Cosmetic Safety Assessment Regulatory Landscape
Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025. Following this deadline, a full version of the safety assessment will be mandated. To facilitate a smooth transition, China is planning to release a set of technical guidelines.
