Japan MHLW Warns Against the Use of Cysteamine in Hair Perming Products

Korea to Permit Non-animal Testing for Functional Cosmetics

Kanebo’s Whitening Product Scandal Urges Japan to Strengthen the Reporting System of Cosmetics Adverse Effects

Japan MHLW decided at a meeting held on 27 Nov to strengthen the reporting system of adverse effects of cosmetics and quasi-drugs, in light of the Kanebo’s skin-whitening product scandal. Cosmetic companies in Japan will be required to report the adverse reactions of cosmetics within 15 days

Taiwan Prohibits Rhododendrol as Cosmetic Ingredient

On 9 Sep 2013, "Taiwan Food and Drug Administration" made response to the recall of Kanebo skin whitening products containing “Rhododendrol” across Asia that based on risk assessment, the Rhododendrol is now classified as “a banned cosmetic ingredient” in Taiwan.

Stay Current: China’s Cosmetic Safety Assessment Regulatory Landscape
Under the current regulatory framework, cosmetics registrants and notifiers can continue to submit a simplified version of the safety assessment report during the registration or notification process until May 1, 2025. Following this deadline, a full version of the safety assessment will be mandated. To facilitate a smooth transition, China is planning to release a set of technical guidelines.
China’s Safety and Technical Standards for Cosmetics (STSC) and Its Updates
